Sigyn
Sigyn is one of the major Norse mythology characters and represents the Viking Goddess's faithfulness and tender-heartedness. This Pagan Goddess is associated with fidelity, Bana, and compassion; her husband is Loki – a well-known trickster god. In Norse mythology, Sigyn saves her husband, Loki, in the course of his punishment by holding a basin to catch the poison that falls on him. In Viking mythology, her image represents the ideals of submersion and obedience to the husband, and that is why she is one of the most revered goddesses in the open mythology of Scandinavia.
Art and symbolism of Sigyn statue
Another typical scene is the altar sculpture where Sigyn holds a bowl – the attribute of the goddess’s virtues such as sacrifice and mercy. The carved statues belong to the mythological art genre, which displays belief in supernatural beings, supernatural powers, nature, and various spirits. The statues are wood-carved and created to depict spirits. They would easily fit as home spiritual decor in any household’s shrine or altar. Well-carved wooden figures of Sigyn are the ritual idols and art pieces that deliver the intended message of the bona fide religious connotation of this goddess. Most of these statues are found in mythology displays, where every carved figure differs from the other because of the difficulty artists put into carving them.
As the figurine, Sigyn is especially beloved by fans of Northern culture and mythology who decorate their homes with carved wooden statues.
Now, fans of paganism and admirers of ancient mythology and historical experiences are still interested in similar figures. They also sink into the garms as ornaments, symbols of Sigyn and the spirit of loyalty and tenderness. These original wooden sculptures of Sigyn are a genuine example of the ritual statue, which can be the focal point of any altar, a collection devoted to the Heathenry, or art focused on mythology. Sigyn, the wife of Loki, and her carved statue represent the aesthetics of the Viking epoch in which supernatural beings constituted an essential part of people’s experience. As a significant part of religious art and architectural design, Sigyn now becomes a loyal and loving figure in the statue and the sculpture of the god.
