Cthulhu

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance amid black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its direction, have hitherto harmed us little, but someday, the day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality and of our frightful position therein that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”. H.P. Lovecraft, “Call of Cthulhu.”

Will of the First of the Old Gods

Cthulhu is a fictional creature featured in horror fiction author H. P. Lovecraft’s novella “The Call of Cthulhu,” originally published in the periodical Weird Tales in 1928. The beast is described as being “a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.” It is too terrible to look at and looks at the viewer on the verge of causing insanity.

Cthulhu is described as the priest or king of the Old Ones, a race from the stars who arrived on Earth before humans existed. The Old Ones fell into a state of hibernation, and their city sank under the Pacific Ocean near the equator below the Earth’s crust. They were connected to humans through telepathy, and there are still tribes of barbarians living in the corners of the Earth who have not forgotten Cthulhu and worship him in rituals called the Infected.

Eldritch being in a pop-culture

Lovecraftian is one of the most popular franchises in existence. It is an indispensable part of cinematics, dark fantasy, role-playing games, and BRGs. Cthulhu has become the ancestor of Ancient Evil, powerful and influential, used in all kinds of creativity — the board game “Cthulhu: Death May Die,” several DnD and Pathfinder universe campaigns, and films by Stuart Gordon and Richard Stanley are just a small part of Howard Lovecraft's influence on pop culture.

For this reason, whether handmade or ready-made, Cthulhu figurines are actively used as campaign ritual statues, as models for water monsters in films, as unique gothic decor, and are especially treasured by the fans.

How to care about the Cthulhu statue?

The Ancient God will not appear in our world unless the handmade oak statue is properly cared for.  Here are some steps on how you can do it:

  1. Keep pets and small children away from this statue, which is intended for domestic use.
  2. Do not allow the wood to come into contact with moisture or dampness.
  3. Clean with a cloth or soft bristle brush.
  4. Wall mounting requires fasteners that will not damage the product's integrity.

This mythos creature, created by an inspired author, has become a benchmark of Lovecraftian horror and is sure to adorn your cabinet or collection.
